Direct Entry ITRA Level 2 Course allows you

To go straight to a Level 2 assessment without first completing Level 1, as long as you have verifiable experience and equivalent competencies.

Who Is This Pathway For?

• Technicians with prior training from another recognized rope rescue organization.
• Individuals with significant experience in technical rope rescue.
• The training center may request a documentation review or a pre‑interview to confirm your eligibility for this course.

Objetivo

Direct Entry ITRA Level 2 Course Involves

• Participation in a combined ITRA Level 1 and Level 2 course.
• During the assessment, you must successfully demonstrate all Level 1 and Level 2 competencies, both theoretical and practical.

Requisitos del curso

To be eligible for the Direct Entry ITRA Level 2 Course, you must have

• Completion of ITRA Level 2 or similar training with at least one year of experience.
• Physical fitness and good health to perform vigorous tasks that may be required during the assessment, such as lifting the weight of a standard load in a litter, carrying equipment and moving through varied environments based on the rope rescue context, etc.
• Minimum age of 18.

Important to Know

If you do not successfully demonstrate all competencies from ITRA Level 1 and ITRA Level 2, no qualification will be awarded.

5 days of training + 1 day of assessment with an independent ITRA evaluator.

Contenido del curso

Teoría

All theory and practical modules from ITRA Level 1 and ITRA Level 2 are delivered intensively. You will train on:

• Intermediate rope rescue physics
• Evaluation and analysis of more complex rope rescue systems
• Contingency planning and decision-making in dynamic scenarios
• Use of alternative anchor systems, including vehicles as anchors
• Evaluation and deployment of pre-rigged pulley systems
• Implementation of back-ties and guy lines
• Techniques for safe litter transitions at difficult or exposed edges

Práctica

This combined training ensures you master the full range of skills required for both levels in an accelerated format, perfect for candidates with previous rope rescue experience. You will master:

• Operation of lowering systems in vertical environments
• Operation of raising systems in vertical environments
• Rigging and use of various litters for vertical rescue
• On-rope ascending and descending with knot pass
• Safe transitions between raising and lowering systems (and vice versa)
• Basic use of Artificial High Directionals (monopods, bipods, tripods)
• Pick-off rescue of a non-suspended victim
• Rigging and use of an improvised harness in emergency situations
• Setup and deployment of retrievable rope systems
• Edge-based rescues involving difficult access (ascending or descending)
• Team-based suspended victim rescue execution and coordination
