Who is the ITRA Level 3 Course For?

• Experienced rescue technicians who already hold Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications (or equivalent).

• Instructor candidates aspiring to become evaluators or certified instructors within the ITRA system.

Objetivo

Objective of the ITRA Level 3 Course

Technicians trained in the ITRA Level 3 Course are prepared to operate in high‑complexity rescue scenarios involving suspended or restricted‑access environments, such as beyond line‑of‑sight spaces or free‑hanging situations. The focus is on mastering advanced techniques, supervising complex maneuvers, utilizing horizontal systems (such as highlines or tyroleans), and maintaining adaptability in changing conditions. Participants are expected to operate with a high level of autonomy and team coordination, both in rope rescue training environments and real‑life emergencies.

Requisitos del curso

Requirements for the ITRA Level 3 Course

• Completion of ITRA Level 2 or similar training with at least one year of experience.
• Physical fitness and good health to perform vigorous tasks that may be required during the assessment, such as lifting the weight of a standard load in a litter, carrying equipment and moving through varied environments based on the rope rescue context, etc.
• Minimum age of 18.

Duración del curso

4 days of training + 1 day of assessment with an independent ITRA evaluator.

• Performance of cross-haul rescues. 
• Execution of suspended victim pick-off rescues.
• On-rope line transfer between ropes. 
• On-rope re-anchoring during ascent or descent. 
• Use of advanced artificial high directional systems in complex structural or terrain configurations. 
• Execution of rescues in environments with zero visibility or beyond line-of-sight. 
• Implementation of offset or diagonal guiding lines. 
• Techniques for breaking into a loaded fixed rope system. 
• Adaptation and application of dynamic, team-based litter rescues in evolving or unstable scenarios.
