The IRATA RASS course in Barcelona is intended exclusively for currently certified IRATA Level 3 technicians who wish to broaden their competencies as rope access safety supervisors.
This training is particularly recommended for:
- IRATA Level 3 technicians who already perform on-site supervisory duties.
- Rope access team supervisors.
- Safety managers responsible for rope access operations.
- Technicians working in industry, wind energy, construction, maintenance, offshore, oil and gas, or industrial rescue.
- Professionals who want to strengthen their international profile within the IRATA system.
RASS does not replace the IRATA Level 3 certification. It complements it with a specific qualification focused on safety supervision, work planning and risk management in rope access operations.

Objectives of the IRATA RASS course
The objective of the IRATA RASS course is to equip IRATA Level 3 technicians with the skills required to supervise rope access operations safely, effectively and in accordance with IRATA’s safe system of work.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Apply IRATA’s safe system of work in real operations.
- Supervise rope access teams on site.
- Identify, assess and control risks before and during operations.
- Plan rope access work, taking into account access methods, rescue arrangements, work areas and preventive measures.
- Verify the correct application of procedures and the appropriate use of equipment and techniques.
- Communicate safety instructions clearly and effectively.
- Lead rope access supervision from both a technical and safety-focused perspective.
This training enables IRATA Level 3 technicians to strengthen their leadership skills and take on a more robust role as safety supervisors on national and international projects.

Entry requirements for the IRATA RASS course
To enrol on the IRATA RASS course in Barcelona, candidates must meet the requirements established by IRATA for this qualification.
Main requirements:
- Hold a valid IRATA Level 3 certification.
- Be registered on IRATA TechConnect.
- Have an up-to-date IRATA logbook.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have the experience and suitability required to undertake rope access supervisory duties.
- Complete the required RASS training before taking the examination.
The course is intended for technicians with previous rope access experience. Its purpose is not to teach basic rope access techniques, but to develop competencies in supervision, safety, planning and operational management.

- The course includes specific preparation for the RASS theory examination, which is completed online through the official system specified by IRATA.
Certificación y Validez
IRATA RASS certification
After successfully completing the IRATA RASS course and the corresponding examination, the technician obtains the IRATA Rope Access Safety Supervisor qualification.
This certification confirms that the IRATA Level 3 technician has completed the training and assessment required to perform specific safety supervision duties during rope access operations.
The RASS certification is valid for 3 years.
To keep the qualification valid, technicians must meet the maintenance requirements established by IRATA, including the relevant continuing professional development (CPD) requirements, where applicable.
RASS is a qualification recognised within the international IRATA system and strengthens the technician’s professional profile as a rope access safety supervisor.
